Biography
Chapterhouse is a British shoegaze band from Reading, formed in 1987 by Andrew Sherriff and Stephen Patman. Their albums 'Whirlpool' (1991) and 'Blood Music' (1993) blended guitar noise with dance beats. They were central to the Thames Valley shoegaze scene alongside *Slowdive* and *Ride* — a circle critics dubbed 'the scene that celebrates itself'. The band split in 1994 and has reunited periodically since 2009.
