Biography
Chavez is a New York City indie rock band formed in 1993 by Matt Sweeney with Clay Tarver, James Lo and, soon after, bassist Scott Marshall. Drawing on post-hardcore and hard rock, the quartet built its reputation on angular, asymmetrical riffs and explosive live shows. After the 1994 single 'Repeat the Ending', Chavez released two acclaimed albums on #Matador#, 'Gone Glimmering' in 1995 and 'Ride the Fader' in 1996, then fell quiet without ever announcing a breakup. A #Matador# box set, 'Better Days Will Haunt You', revived interest in 2006, and the original quartet returned with the 'Cockfighters' EP in 2017.
