Biography

Colosseum are English jazz rock pioneers formed in London in 1968 by Jon Hiseman and Dick Heckstall-Smith. Blending blues, rock and jazz improvisation, they broke through with 'Valentyne Suite' (1969), the first album on #Vertigo#, and the lineup with Clem Clempson, Mark Clarke and Chris Farlowe remains their classic formation. Reunions produced albums from 'Bread and Circuses' (1997) to 'XI' (2025), and Farlowe, Clempson and Clarke still lead the band today.
