Biography
Conventum was a Montreal avant folk and progressive group formed in the mid 1970s by André Duchesne with René Lussier, Jacques Laurin and violinist Bernard Cormier. Mixing Quebec folk, chamber arrangements, poetry and satire on acoustic instruments, it released 'À l'affût d'un complot' in 1977 and 'Le bureau central des utopies' in 1979, then split. Its members later helped found the #Ambiances Magnétiques# collective, a cornerstone of Montreal musique actuelle.
