Biography
Crywank is an independent anti-folk band formed in Manchester, England, in 2009. Originally a solo project by singer-songwriter Jay Clayton, the group expanded into a collaborative unit with the addition of percussionist Dan Watson and later bassist Jules Noel. Characterized by their fiercely do-it-yourself (DIY) approach, the self-managed and unsigned band is celebrated for a raw sonic blend of sad, introspective, and intentionally silly songs that touch on themes of depression, paranoia, and interpersonal tension. Having toured extensively worldwide, they transitioned from a planned breakup into a permanent three-piece lineup.
