Biography
Dakota Staton was a Pittsburgh born jazz vocalist whose 1957 #Capitol Records# hit 'The Late, Late Show' made her one of the leading jazz singers of the late 1950s. Voted most promising newcomer by *Down Beat* in 1955, she followed with albums such as 'Dynamic!', 'In the Night' and 'Round Midnight', singing with a powerful, blues inflected tone.
