Biography
Death Ambient was a New York experimental trio of Kato Hideki on bass guitar, Ikue Mori on drum machines and Fred Frith on guitar, formed in 1995. Hideki and Mori, veterans of *Ground Zero* and *DNA* respectively, built improvised soundscapes of bass, sampled percussion and guitar, released on *John Zorn*'s #Tzadik# label. The albums 'Death Ambient' in 1995 and 'Synaesthesia' in 1999 were followed in 2007 by 'Drunken Forest', recorded with guest percussionist Jim Pugliese, after which the trio ceased documented activity without a formal split.
