Biography
Birmingham band formed in 1978 by singer Kevin Rowland and guitarist Kevin “Al” Archer from the ashes of *The Killjoys*. Their brass-driven debut 'Searching for the Young Soul Rebels' (1980) produced the UK number one 'Geno', and the fiddle-laden 'Too-Rye-Ay' (1982) made 'Come On Eileen' a transatlantic number one. The band split in 1986 after the commercial failure of 'Don't Stand Me Down'; Rowland reformed Dexys in 2003, with trombonist Jim Paterson the only other ever-present member.
