Biography
American instrumental fusion band built around guitarist Steve Morse, bassist Andy West, drummer Rod Morgenstein and violinist Allen Sloan. Formed in Augusta, Georgia and refined at the University of Miami, the Dixie Dregs signed to #Capricorn Records# and debuted with 'Free Fall' in 1977. Albums such as 'What If', 'Night of the Living Dregs' and 'Dregs of the Earth' mixed jazz fusion, progressive rock, bluegrass and Southern rock with unusual precision and humour. Later records as the Dregs, periodic reunions and the 1994 studio album 'Full Circle' kept the band a touchstone for instrumental rock musicianship.
