Don Byron (born 8 November 1958 in the Bronx, New York) is an American clarinettist, bass clarinettist, saxophonist and composer. Trained at the New England Conservatory, he emerged from Boston's klezmer revival and New York's avant-garde jazz scene. His albums for #Nonesuch# and #Blue Note#, including 'Tuskegee Experiments' (1992) and 'Bug Music' (1996), reinterpret klezmer, cartoon jazz and swing with scholarly curiosity and improvisational daring, and he has taught and directed jazz programmes alongside a long recording and composing career.
