Eberhard Weber

Eberhard Weber

A German bassist and composer whose unique, lyrical sound on a custom-made electric double bass helped to define the 'ECM sound.' Weber's playing is known for its singing, horn-like quality and his compositions for their atmospheric, cinematic, and chamber-music-like textures. His 1974 album 'The Colours of Chlöe' was a seminal work that blended jazz improvisation with orchestral arrangements, creating a new and influential template for European jazz.
