Eumir Deodato

Biography

Eumir Deodato is a Brazilian keyboardist, arranger and producer from Rio de Janeiro. After leading *Os Catedráticos* through bossa-jazz landmarks such as 'Impulso!' (1964), he scored an international hit with 'Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)' from 'Prelude' (1973) on #CTI Records#, and later produced *Kool & the Gang*. His arrangements are credited on hundreds of recordings, and his Zarathustra single remains one of the best-selling jazz records of the 1970s, a bridge between bossa nova and jazz-funk.
