Françoiz Breut

Biography

Françoiz Breut is a French singer and illustrator born in Cherbourg in 1969. She began as a backing vocalist for *Dominique A*, who wrote and arranged most of her self-titled debut album in 1997, a record that helped launch the nouvelle chanson movement. Singing largely in French, she built a catalogue of moody, literate pop through albums such as 'Vingt à trente mille jours', 'Une saison volée' and 'Zoo', writing her own lyrics from 2008 onward. Breut lives in Brussels and continues to record and to illustrate children's books.
