Biography
Fugazi was a post-hardcore band from Washington, D.C. that became one of the most influential and ethically uncompromising groups in independent music. Formed in 1986, the quartet of Ian MacKaye, Guy Picciotto, Joe Lally, and Brendan Canty forged a unique sound blending punk intensity with funk, dub, and experimental song structures. Operating entirely outside the mainstream industry, they released all their music, including landmark albums like 'Repeater' and 'The Argument', on MacKaye's Dischord Records label. Renowned for their incendiary live shows, low-cost tickets, and staunch DIY principles, Fugazi established a legacy of artistic autonomy that has inspired generations of musicians.
