Biography
Norwegian funeral doom band formed in Drammen in 1991 by Anders Eek and Thomas Angell, with Einar Andr茅 Frederiksen and Christian Loos. Funeral helped define the genre that took its name, moving from the demo 'Tristesse' and the 1995 debut 'Tragedies' toward a gothic, orchestral sound on 'In Fields of Pestilent Grief' and 'From These Wounds'. Despite the deaths of Frederiksen in 2003 and Loos in 2006, drummer Eek has kept the band active through 'Oratorium', 'Praesentialis in Aeternum' and 'Gospel of Bones'.
