Biography
Hungarian-born guitarist who escaped to the United States in 1956, played in *Chico Hamilton*'s quintet and then led his own groups through a celebrated run of #Impulse! Records# albums including 'Gypsy '66' and 'Jazz Raga'. His folk-tinged, feedback-friendly style crossed jazz with pop and rock, and his composition 'Gypsy Queen' became a standard through *Santana*'s version, which folded it into 'Black Magic Woman'.
