A bassist known for his impeccable time and powerful, grounding presence, George Morrow was the anchor of the legendary Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet. His solid, reliable bass lines provided the essential foundation for one of the most important and influential groups in jazz history. He appeared on all of the quintet's classic recordings for #EmArcy#, including 'Study in Brown' and 'At Basin Street,' making him a key, if often unsung, contributor to the hard bop canon. Though rarely a soloist, his supportive and swinging accompaniment was highly valued by leaders like *Max Roach*, *Sonny Rollins*, and *Sonny Stitt* throughout his career.
