Biography

A classically trained violinist and vocalist, Georgia Ellery shapes a distinct dual identity within contemporary music. As a founding member of the art-rock ensemble Black Country, New Road, she contributes violin and vocal textures that expand the group’s post-rock and chamber pop foundations. Concurrently, in the experimental pop duo Jockstrap, she merges lyrical songwriting and jazz-inflected vocals with volatile electronic production. Ellery’s work, which began to gain prominence in the late 2010s, is defined by this stylistic duality, moving between collective improvisation and avant-pop arrangements, influencing a wave of genre-fluid artists emerging from London's experimental scene.
