Black Country, New Road

Emerging from Cambridge in 2018, Black Country, New Road quickly became a defining force in the UK's experimental rock landscape. Their initial sound, a volatile mix of post-punk, free jazz, and spoken word, was captured on their Mercury Prize-nominated debut album 'For the first time', released on #Ninja Tune#. The band was fronted by the intense lyrical and vocal presence of Isaac Wood, whose departure in early 2022 preceded the release of their acclaimed, more accessible sophomore album, 'Ants From Up There'. Continuing as a six-piece, the band has since adopted a collaborative and democratic approach, with multiple members sharing songwriting and lead vocal duties, as showcased on their live album 'Live at Bush Hall'.
