Biography

High Tide were an English progressive rock band formed in Northampton in 1969 by Tony Hill (guitar, vocals), Simon House (violin, keyboards), Peter Pavli (bass) and Roger Hadden (drums). Their albums 'Sea Shanties' (1969) and 'High Tide' (1970) fused proto-metal weight with prog complexity and electric violin, but sold poorly, and the band split in 1970. Hill revived the name for the duo album 'Interesting Times' with House and for improvised early-1990s albums with a new line-up, while archive releases preserved the original group's unreleased recordings.
