Biography
Hijokaidan are a Japanese noise group formed in Kyoto in 1979, the project of guitarist Jojo Hiroshige of #Alchemy Records#. With a revolving lineup that has ranged from two to fourteen people, the group moved from destructive performance art toward a dense wall of noise built around Hiroshige, vocalist Junko and *Incapacitants* member Toshiji Mikawa. Records such as 'King of Noise' (1985) and 'Emergency Stairway to Heaven' (2015) made them, as their nickname has it, the King of Noise.
