Biography
Oakland avant garde rock band, formed at Berkeley in 1985 as Acid Rain and renamed Idiot Flesh before its 1990 debut 'Tales of Instant Knowledge and Sure Death'. Idiot Flesh fused prog, funk, metal and folk with butoh, puppetry and homemade instruments in a deliberately unclassifiable stage spectacle. Two further albums, 'The Nothing Show' and 'Fancy', followed before the band split in 1998; Nils Frykdahl and Dan Rathbun then formed *Sleepytime Gorilla Museum*.
