Biography
Czech jazz fusion band from Prague, founded in 1964 by Martin Kratochvíl and Jiří Stivín and led by Kratochvíl ever since. Jazz Q moved from free jazz through the shared *Blue Effect* album 'Coniunctio' into electric jazz and art rock on 'Pozorovatelna' and 'Symbiosis', then into lean keyboard-led fusion on 'Elegie', 'Zvěsti', 'Hodokvas' and 'Hvězdoň'. One of the longest-lived Czech fusion groups, the band recorded for #Supraphon# and #Panton#, broke up in the 1980s and returned with new albums in the 2010s.
