Biography

Joe McPhee Po Music is the recording ensemble of American free jazz saxophonist Joe McPhee, formed around his Po Music concept of lateral thinking applied to improvisation. Its #HatHut Records# albums 'Topology' (1981) and 'Oleo' (1983) feature McPhee with André Jaume, Raymond Boni and François Mechali, a drummerless group exploring standards and original compositions through collective improvisation, with McPhee's pocket trumpet and saxophones at the centre of the sound.
