Joseph Michael Kramer is the American drummer and a founding member of the legendary rock band Aerosmith. He is credited with conceiving the band's name around 1968, doodling it in notebooks years before the group officially formed. Known for his solid, hard-hitting, and groove-oriented style, Kramer provided the rhythmic backbone for decades of iconic hits like 'Walk This Way' and 'Sweet Emotion'. Beyond the drum kit, he is an author, having penned the 2009 memoir 'Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top', which detailed his struggles with depression. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Aerosmith in 2001.
