Biography
Judas Iscariot was the solo black metal project of Andrew Harris, known as Akhenaten, active in DeKalb, Illinois from 1992 to 2002. Performing all instruments himself, Harris moved from early demos to the paired 1996 albums 'The Cold Earth Slept Below...' and 'Thy Dying Light', records whose raw, tremolo-driven sound helped establish American black metal. Later albums including 'Of Great Eternity', 'Distant in Solitary Night' and 'Heaven in Flames' deepened the project's bleak, nihilistic reputation. Harris dissolved Judas Iscariot in 2002 after 'To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding'.
