Julian Priester

An adventurous and versatile trombonist, Julian Priester has been a key contributor to a wide spectrum of modern jazz. He was a member of Max Roach's adventurous hard bop groups and a key voice in the cosmic explorations of Sun Ra's Arkestra. He is perhaps best known as a member of Herbie Hancock's groundbreaking Mwandishi sextet, where his trombone, often augmented with electronic effects, was central to the band's futuristic, avant-garde sound.
