Kip Hanrahan

Biography

Kip Hanrahan is an American composer and producer from the Bronx who runs the #American Clavé# label and builds albums from shifting casts of jazz, Latin and rock musicians. His records, from 'Coup de Tête' (1981) to 'Tenderness' (1990), feature collaborators including *Jack Bruce* and *Don Pullen*. He describes his role as closer to a film director than a bandleader, and the American Clavé catalogue is one of the most distinctive independent bodies of work in modern jazz.
