Biography
KMD were an American hip hop trio from Long Beach, New York, active from 1987 to 1994. Built around brothers Zev Love X and DJ Subroc, the group moved from graffiti and breakdancing into recording after a guest spot with *3rd Bass* led to a deal with #Elektra Records#. Their 1991 debut 'Mr. Hood' balanced humour, satire and Black empowerment. A darker second album, 'Black Bastards', was shelved after Subroc's death in 1993, and the group dissolved in 1994, though the album was eventually released in 2000.
