Biography
KRS-One, born Lawrence Parker, is a foundational figure in hip-hop, celebrated for his intellectual and socially conscious lyricism. Rising to prominence in the mid-1980s as the leader of the pioneering group Boogie Down Productions, he established a new frontier for hardcore and political rap. After the tragic death of his partner *DJ Scott La Rock*, KRS-One continued the group as a solo endeavor, shifting focus to what he termed "edutainment." This earned him the moniker "The Teacha." His solo career, beginning with 1993's 'Return of the Boom Bap', further solidified his legacy as one of the genre's most powerful and enduring voices, consistently blending activism with raw, boom-bap aesthetics.
