Biography
Lennie Niehaus was an American alto saxophonist and arranger, a star soloist with *Stan Kenton* whose own 1950s albums for #Contemporary Records# are West Coast jazz classics. He later became *Clint Eastwood*'s principal musical collaborator, composing Bird (1988) and orchestrating most of Eastwood's films. He died in 2020, aged ninety. His writing for Kenton, all cool voicings and clean lines, helped define an era of big band jazz.
