Life Without Buildings

Life Without Buildings was a short-lived but highly influential Scottish post-punk band formed in Glasgow in 1999. The group was defined by the intricate, math-rock-influenced guitar work of Robert Johnston and the distinctive speak-sing, stream-of-consciousness vocal delivery of Sue Tompkins. Though they only released one studio album, 'Any Other City' (2001) on the #Tugboat Records# label, their unique sound garnered a passionate cult following that grew exponentially after their 2002 breakup. Their reputation was cemented with the posthumous release of 'Live at the Annandale Hotel' and a viral resurgence in the 2020s, leading to a reunion announcement for 2026.
