- Born: February 17, 1957 in Morden, Manitoba, Canada
Biography
Canadian singer, harpist and composer from Morden, Manitoba, who built a multi-platinum career entirely on her own label, #Quinlan Road#. McKennitt's albums, from 'Elemental' (1985) to 'The Book of Secrets' (1997), draw on Celtic music, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern traditions and the literature of travel and mysticism, sung in a clear soprano over harp, keyboards and ensemble arrangements of her own design. A remix of 'The Mummers' Dance' by *DNA* became an unlikely North American hit single.
