Biography
Luiz Melodia (1951-2017) was a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro's Est谩cio district, son of sambista Oswaldo Melodia. Championed by *Gal Costa*, who recorded 'P茅rola Negra' before his 1973 debut album of the same name, he blended samba, MPB, soul, blues and rock in a soft, conversational voice. Albums such as 'Maravilhas Contempor芒neas' made him a cult figure, belatedly honoured at the 2015 Brazilian Music Awards.
