Biography
Marc and the Mambas was Marc Almond's dark cabaret side project, formed in London in 1982 while *Soft Cell* were at their commercial peak. With Annie Hogan, Matt Johnson and a fluid supporting cast, Almond explored chanson, vaudeville and gothic rock on two albums for #Some Bizzare#, 'Untitled' (1982) and the double set 'Torment and Toreros' (1983). He disbanded the group in 1983, but its theatrical style became the template for his solo work.
