Martha Skye Murphy

Biography

South London singer-songwriter Martha Skye Murphy writes piano led avant folk songs that drift into jazz, chamber pop and electronica. A child vocalist for *Nick Cave* and *Warren Ellis* on The Proposition and later a *Bad Seeds* backing singer, she developed slowly through the EPs 'Heal' and 'Yours Truly' and collaborations with *Squid* before her debut album 'Um' arrived on #AD 93# in 2024. Her high, whispery soprano and theatrical, literature soaked songwriting mark her as one of British experimental pop's most distinctive new voices.
