Biography
Masabumi Kikuchi (1939–2015) was a Japanese jazz pianist known as 'Poo'. After early work in Tokyo he moved to New York, playing with *Gil Evans* and *Paul Motian* and co-founding Tethered Moon. His sparse, meditative late style is documented on the #ECM Records# album 'Sunrise'. His playing grew sparser and more introspective with age, ending in music of extraordinary quiet intensity.
