Biography
Midnight Oil were an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1972, first as Farm, and renamed in 1976. Singer Peter Garrett, drummer Rob Hirst, guitarists Jim Moginie and Martin Rotsey and a succession of bassists made fiercely political pub rock that broke worldwide with 'Diesel and Dust' (1987) and its anthem 'Beds Are Burning'. After a 2002 split and a 2016 reformation, the band ended with the album 'Resist' and a final concert at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on 3 October 2022.
