Biography
múm are an Icelandic band formed in 1997 by Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason with twins Gyða and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, combining whisper soft vocals, glitch electronics and acoustic instruments. 'Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today Is OK' (1999) and 'Finally We Are No One' (2002) defined their folktronica sound. After both sisters had left by 2006, a collective lineup made 'Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy' (2007) and 'Sing Along to Songs You Don't Know' (2009). Gyða returned for 'Smilewound' (2013), and the band ended a long silence with 'History of Silence' (2025).
