Biography
Aphex Twin is the primary recording alias of Richard David James, an Irish-born British electronic musician and composer. A pioneering and influential figure in electronic music, he is celebrated for his work in genres like IDM, ambient, techno, and jungle. Emerging from the Cornish free party scene, he co-founded #Rephlex Records# and signed to #Warp Records#, releasing the landmark album 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92'. His sound is defined by its complex, often frantic drum programming, juxtaposed with haunting, beautiful melodies and a mischievous, sometimes abrasive sonic palette, profoundly shaping the landscape of modern experimental and electronic music.
