Biography

M煤sica Urbana was a Barcelona jazz-rock band founded in 1976 by keyboardist Joan Albert Amarg贸s. Melding jazz, rock and formal composition with flamenco and Mediterranean roots, the group released two acclaimed but commercially neglected albums, 'M煤sica Urbana' (1976) and 'Iberia' (1978), before ending by 1979. Its members, notably Amarg贸s and bassist Carles Benavent, became central figures in Catalan jazz and contemporary composition.
