Biography
Neptunian Maximalism, also known as NNMM, is a Belgian music collective formed in Brussels in 2018. The project was initiated by multi-instrumentalist Guillaume Cazalet with saxophonist Jean-Jacques Duerinckx and drummers Sébastien Schmit and *Pierre Arese*, and it grew into a variable-geometry 'arkestra' of around a dozen musicians. Its music fuses amplified drone and doom metal with spiritual free jazz and psychedelic improvisation, usually in long, ritualistic pieces. An early EP, 'The Conference of the Stars', preceded the collective's central work, the triple album 'Éons' (2020), released by #I, Voidhanger Records# and dedicated to the Sun, the Moon and the Earth. Offshoot configurations perform as the Drone Arkestra and the Solar Drone Arkestra, and the collective appeared at Roadburn Redux in 2021.
