OOIOO is an experimental rock band from Japan, formed by *Boredoms* drummer and multi-instrumentalist Yoshimi P-We. The group began as a fictional entity for a magazine photoshoot before evolving into a legitimate, all-female touring and recording act. Known for their unpredictable and genre-defying sound, OOIOO blends elements of psychedelic rock, noise, and tribal rhythms into a unique sonic tapestry. Their dynamic and often chaotic compositions are a hallmark of their work on labels like #Thrill Jockey# and #Polystar#. The band gained early international exposure by opening for *Sonic Youth* in 1997, solidifying their place in the global avant-garde music scene.
