Biography
Tokyo new wave band formed in 1976, Plastics mixed punk, glam and synth pop with sharp satire of consumer culture. Vocalist Chica Sato, guitarist and vocalist Toshio Nakanishi, guitarist Hajime Tachibana, keyboardist Masahide Sakuma and rhythm programmer Takemi Shima made 'Welcome Plastics', 'Origato Plastico' and 'Welcome Back' before splitting in 1981. Brief reunions followed in 1989 and from 2010 to 2016, and their influence runs through later Japanese pop.
