Biography
The Pointer Sisters are an American vocal group from Oakland, formed in 1969 by sisters June and Bonnie Pointer and completed by Anita and Ruth Pointer in 1972. Their early #Blue Thumb# albums mixed jazz, funk and country, winning a Grammy for 'Fairytale'. After Bonnie's departure in 1977, the trio of June, Ruth and Anita scored a run of major pop hits at #Planet# and #RCA#, including 'Fire', 'Slow Hand', 'I'm So Excited' and 'Jump (For My Love)'. The group now continues across generations, led by Ruth with her daughter Issa and granddaughter Sadako.
