Biography
Canadian post-punk band formed in Calgary in 2012 by ex-*Women* members Matt Flegel (bass, vocals) and Mike Wallace (drums), with guitarists Scott Munro and Daniel Christiansen. First recording as *Viet Cong*, the quartet changed its name to Preoccupations in 2016 after sustained criticism of the original moniker. Its tense, labyrinthine records include 'Viet Cong' (2015), 'Preoccupations' (2016), 'New Material' (2018), 'Arrangements' (2022) and 'Ill at Ease' (2025), released through labels including #Flemish Eye#, #Jagjaguwar# and #Born Losers Records#.
