Biography
Protest the Hero is a Canadian progressive metal band from Whitby, Ontario, known for their technical proficiency and stylistic evolution. Formed in 1999 as Happy Go Lucky, the band initially played punk before shifting to a complex metalcore and mathcore sound. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 concept album 'Kezia', released via #Underground Operations#. Subsequent albums like 'Fortress' and 'Scurrilous' further cemented their reputation for intricate musicianship. Frustrated with traditional labels, they successfully crowdfunded 2013's 'Volition', which featured *Chris Adler* of *Lamb of God* on drums. Their work, including later albums 'Pacific Myth' and 'Palimpsest', continues to blend aggressive instrumentation with melodic, soaring vocals and complex lyrical themes.
