Rob

Biography

Rob is Ghanaian funk and soul singer Robert Roy Reindorf, born in Accra in 1949 and nicknamed Funky Rob. After learning piano in Cotonou and playing with *Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou*, he fronted the army band Mag-2 on two #Essiebons# albums, 'Funky Rob Way' (1977) and 'Make It Fast, Make It Slow' (1978). Ignored in Ghana at the time, the records were rediscovered by collectors, sampled by *J Dilla*, reissued, and taken back on tour in Europe from 2019.
