Selbst

Biography

Venezuelan founded black metal project led by the anonymous multi instrumentalist N, now based in Chile. Selbst began in 2010 as a duo with vocalist Frozen, became effectively N's solo studio vehicle after his 2016 move to Chile, and grew into a live band from 2018. The albums 'Selbst' in 2017, 'Relatos de Angustia' in 2020 and 'Despondency Chord Progressions' in 2024 trace a path from raw black metal toward intricate, dissonant and melodic arrangements, with lyrics exploring loneliness and self confrontation. N has handled vocals as well as all instruments since the second album.
