Biography
Sol Invictus were a London neofolk band formed in 1987 by Tony Wakeford, formerly of *Crisis* and *Death in June*, who remained its only constant member. Early albums such as 'Trees in Winter' (1990) appeared on his #Tursa# label, and the group's folk noir sound grew increasingly neoclassical across 'The Death of the West' (1994) and 'The Blade' (1997). The final lineup around Wakeford made 'The Cruellest Month' (2011), 'Once Upon a Time' (2014) and 'Necropolis' (2018) before the band ended in 2023.
